PHILOSOPHY
Portability is the keystone of our philosophy here at Oglesby & Butler Ltd. Our goal is to provide to the customer the convenience of portable gas technology in the form of heat tools such as Portasol® soldering irons, glue guns, micro torches and vaporiser products such as iolite® portable vaporisers.
We are constantly developing our technology and capabilities to provide the best solutions for portable butane powered products to meet consumer needs.
EVOLUTION
In 1984 the distinctive orange ‘Technic' was the first pocket portable soldering iron introduced to market, and servicemen and technicians the world over were suddenly given the freedom to be able to solder joints in the field, alleviated by the need to plug in to electrical outlets. Following the original innovation of the ‘Technic', Portasol® rapidly built on this success and introduced the Professional iron, adding accessories such as hot blow and hot knife tips, and producing the first Heat tool kit.
From 1984 to 2009 Oglesby & Butler Ltd established itself as the world leader in its field and manufactures a comprehensive range of Portasol® butane powered soldering irons, glue guns and heat tool kits; the Super-Pro heat tools kit is a firm favourite in the automotive aftermarket with features such as flameless hot blow for heat shrink tubing; built in blowtorch and hot knife
In 2008 and 2009 Oglesby & Butler technology expanded into the vaporiser market with the portable revolution of the iolite® portable vaporizer. Our iolite vaporizer features our unique bi-metal thermostat, which regulates the temperature to a constant 190ºC so as not to burn tobacco. With the iolite® vaporizer patented in over 150 countries we are aiming to provide the world the best in butane powered portable vaporisers
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
With a state of the art tool room including Star and Deco CNC machines, a plating plant, catalyst lab and moulding shop 99% of Portasol® and iolite® products are designed and manufactured by a team of dedicated and valued employees at our manufacturing plant in Carlow, Ireland. All our products are proudly stamped "Déanta in Éirinn" - Made in Ireland.
